ROBOTS VS. HUMANITY SMACKDOWN!
Something big is going on in war today and maybe even in the history of humanity itself.
The U.S. military went into Iraq with a handful of drones in the air. We now have 5,300.
The U.S. military went into Iraq with zero unmanned ground systems. We now have 12,000.
We need to remember that we're talking about the model T fords compared to what's coming soon.
An Air Force 3 star General said that where we are headed, very soon, is tens of thousands of robots operating in our conflicts.
These numbers matter because we aren't just talking about tens of thousands of todays robots, but tens of thousands of these prototypes and tomorrow's robots.
One of the things that's operating is Moore's Law where you can pack in more and more computing power into those robots and so flash, around 25 years, if Moore's Law holds true, those robots will be close to a billion times more powerful in their computing than robots of today.
What this means is that the kind of things we use to only talk about at science conventions have to be talked about in the halls of power and places like the Pentagon.
A robots revolution is upon us.
When historians look at this period, they are going to determine that we are in a revolution in war. Like the invention of the atomic bomb. But it may be even bigger than that because our unmanned systems don't just effect the how of war fighting, they effect the who of fighting at its most fundamental level. That is every previous revolution in war, be it the machine gun, or the atomic bomb, was about a system that either shot faster, went further, had a bigger boom. That's certainly the case with robotics but they also change the experience of the warrior and even the very identity of the warrior. Another way of putting this is that mankind's 5,000 year old monopoly on fighting of war is breaking down in our very lifetime.
There's another side to technological revolutions.
Where does this leave us with issues like war crimes. Robots are emotionless. So they don't get upset if their buddy is killed. They don't commit crimes of rage and revenge. But robots are emotionless.
They see an 80 year old grandmother in a wheel chair exactly the same way they see a T80 tank. Both are just a series of 0s and 1s. How do we catch up our 20 Century laws of war with our 21st Century technologies?
Is our generation going to make the same mistake that a past generation did with atomic weaponry and not deal with the issues that surround it until pandora's box is already opened?
Our machines can be used for both good and evil. There is a duality to humans as well. Our creativity has taken our species to the stars. Our creativity has created works of art and literature to express our love. And now we're using our creativity in a certain direction to build fantastic machines with incredible capabilities. Maybe even one day an entirely new species. But one of the main reasons we are doing that is because of our drive to destroy each other. So the question we all should ask is, is it our machines or is it us that's wired for war?

But Then Again When …
But Then Again When was war A benefit To Mankind, just Goes To Show How We Struggle To find New ways To kill each other. They Might aswell Install Mini Spider Robots that carry Atomic Bombs… Any way’s my point is that Instead of Fighting Around Everybody Sould think of Expanding not war. Why Not colonize Other planets, But then again that would Turn Science-fiction.. Yet i ask, what is so impossible? sending People to Other planets maybe even with the benefit of wich they are on earth, Tv etc.

I think robots in warfare are MUCH better than humans in warfare! At least we reduce the casualties on one side!
If we need war, I’m all for war-robots!
Hmmm, well sure …
Hmmm, well sure let’s send robots To Fight for us. But Let’s Take it A Whole New point. What if Robots Would stop Pointing Their wepons at Other robots, And Point it at humans? Sure America Agree’s that They will only send Robots, Sure maybe other country’s will too… But There Will be one Black sheep in the herd… Robots Might Turn Our Downfall Instead of Our Benefit..
1) This is jibber …
1) This is jibber jabber, he went into his research trying to validate his view.
2) Some of the pictures he showed are props and or fake.
3) I highly doubt driving a drone in the US is more traumatic than watching your friends blow up in front of you.
when you are paying …
when you are paying over 10,000 dollars just to speak at TED, have high credentials to be there and be known in the tech world, your not about to bring props and fake pictures!
War sucks, doesn’t …
War sucks, doesn’t matter how you slice it. If you spent millions of dollars and thousands of hours trying to figure out how to eliminate the threat or need for war, that would be something to shout about.
But wouldn’t you be …
But wouldn’t you be involved in a lot more combat? uming the drones are a little more expendable than their human counter part…
Sarah Conner??.
Sarah Conner??.
Yay! Let’s hope all …
Yay! Let’s hope all sides of warfare develop robots! Then we’ll have robots killing robots and no humans are hurt! :D
And.. Warfare is not a game. If there is a situation so desperate that we have to go to war, our least concern would be how we’re percepted as cowards for not sending humans!
This video is …
This video is pretty disturbing! I wonder if there is a way to just make sure that the firctional “Three Robot Laws” were followed at all times: 1) A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm. 2)A robot must obey orders given to it by human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3) A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law… If its possible…?
Are future is truly …
Are future is truly frighting but what’s even more frighting is are love of self destruction weather it be destruction of nature, natural resources, animals or fellow human beings it’s just Fckin insanity i’m glad i’m not of that sad mind state PEACE&lOVE

i will. thx for the recomendation
the reply to …
the reply to madputz, is the same to you. Yes the issue is being ignored.
i kno that the …
i kno that the world isn’t a happy peaceful place, but time and again, you have to go after the head of evil instead of its tail, and currently with our war tech, we will have a large head. Eventually ours will decapitate by itself just like the elephant man’s.
Also the terminator comes back in part 2 to say that unman warfare shouldn’t exist but every1 else is like cool, awsome unman soldier we gotta build one.
Yeah! Great idea! …
Yeah! Great idea! Kill everyone who has a religion! I mean, all that is is a level of genocide beyond even the Holocaust! And all they’ll do is take up arms in resistance, thereby leading to another war and…oh..oh dear…seem to have spotted a small, murderous flaw in your argument there…
Bravo!! It’s always …
Bravo!! It’s always great when you find better ways to kill each other! I’m sure your children are very proud of you.
You can test it by putting all the scientists that are working on such things in a building, then blow it up.
We don’t need more stuff that kills, we need less.
how stupid can …
how stupid can people get…
Yeah it was called …
Yeah it was called “Robot Wars”
they usedto have …
they usedto have these television programa’s at which normal people build robots with weapons to fight eachother in a area. somehow this looks a bit like it.
luckly robot’s aren’t racist thinkers. to bad some of the people controlling them will be.
good point – the …
good point – the machines aren’t the problem. the machines are just extensions of the humans – and in the humans is the innate drive to kill. kill the humans, leave the robots in peace : )
By even going to …
By even going to war we are making the same mistakes… When humanity wakes up… war will not be necessary.
While we do have …
While we do have violence as part of our nature, it is not our nature in full.
Humans are neither good or bad, we hold the middle way.
Unfortunatly, this …
Unfortunatly, this is very true.
Too bad we cannot learn to understand one another. That is where the wealth lies. Instead we choose to spread the ignorance.
